Celebrating the 2026 Heritage Landing Scholarship Recipients

Education has the power to change lives, and this year's Heritage Landing Scholarship Luncheon was a celebration of exactly that.

Hosted at the National Infantry Museum, the annual event honored 12 Heritage Landing scholarship recipients, with eight scholars attending alongside their families to celebrate this exciting milestone. Together, these remarkable students earned an incredible $136,000 in scholarship funding through The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation.

Community Director Kimberly Collins welcomed guests before introducing a lineup of inspiring speakers that included Sandra Nelson from Fort Benning's Military Housing Office, motivational speaker Dan Parker, scholarship recipient Hannah Patterson, and Kevin Clarke, Vice President of Investment Management for The Michaels Organization.

One of the afternoon's highlights came from Hannah Patterson, who received a scholarship from the Foundation for the second consecutive year. Hannah spoke about how the scholarship has helped her continue pursuing her marketing degree while allowing her to focus on her education and future career instead of financial obstacles. Her story perfectly reflected why the scholarship program continues to make such a meaningful difference for military families.

Guests were equally inspired by keynote speaker Dan Parker. After losing his sight in a racing accident, Parker refused to give up his passion for racing and ultimately became the Guinness World Record holder as the world's fastest blind racecar driver. His powerful message of perseverance, resilience, and determination reminded everyone in attendance that obstacles do not define our future.

The ceremony concluded with scholarship presentations and closing remarks from Kevin Clarke, who encouraged each recipient to continue pursuing their goals with confidence and purpose.

Since its founding, The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation has awarded more than $16 million in scholarships to residents nationwide. This year alone, the Foundation awarded $2.477 million to 258 recipients, including 123 military family scholars, helping students pursue college, trade schools, and continuing education.
