Business Starts At Home
A Home-Based Business can provide military spouses and service members with a flexible way to earn income and continue building their business through future moves. The Fort Benning Home-Based Business Program allows eligible residents to operate approved businesses from on-post housing while following installation requirements. Home-Based Businesses may include online shops, freelance services, tutoring, childcare, beauty and personal care services, home baking, catering and other approved business activities.
Interested in operating a home-based business from your Heritage Landing residence? Home-Based Businesses must receive installation approval before operating in on-post housing. Applications are managed through the Fort Benning MWR Financial Management Division.
How to Apply
1. Complete the Application
Download and complete the Home-Based Business application through the Fort Benning MWR website. Paper applications are also available from the MWR Headquarters Financial Management Division.
2. Obtain Installation Approvals
Visit the installation agencies listed on the application, including the community housing management office and safety office, to obtain the required approvals. Contact the Financial Management Division if you have questions about which approvals are needed for your business.
3. Gather Your Documents
Depending on your business, you may need to provide:
Business information, such as catalogs, brochures or handouts
A copy of your liability insurance, if applicable
Your business registration number, if applicable
Additional documentation for Cottage Food businesses
4. Submit Your Application
Once your application, approvals and supporting documents are complete, submit everything to:

*Cottage Food Businesses
Cottage Food businesses must also provide a written document containing:
The business address
A list of the Cottage Food products being sold
A copy of the recipe for each food item
The method the business will use to advertise
