Breaking Ground on the Future of Norton Court
Exciting progress is underway at Norton Court as Heritage Landing at Fort Benning officially begins a new chapter for this historic neighborhood. Last week, community leaders, partners, residents, and Fort Benning leadership gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the reconstructed Norton Court development, marking an important milestone for the future of military family housing on post.
The ceremony not only celebrated what is ahead, but also honored the rich history behind the Norton Court name. Guests were invited to explore a history walk showcasing the evolution of the neighborhood, from its early days as a World War I-era training ground known as “Bayonet Court” to the housing community generations of military families would eventually call home. The event served as a meaningful reflection on the enduring connection between service, community, and home at Fort Benning.
Thoughtfully designed with today’s military families in mind, the new Norton Court neighborhood will feature 112 two-story townhomes across 19 buildings, offering both three- and four-bedroom layouts. Each home is designed with open-concept living, quality finishes, and detached single-car garages that are EV charger ready, blending modern convenience with functional family living.
At the heart of the neighborhood, a welcoming playground and green spaces will create opportunities for families to connect, gather, and enjoy everyday moments together. These shared spaces are intentionally designed to foster a strong sense of community while supporting the needs of military life.
As construction continues, Norton Court reflects Heritage Landing’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes for the families who serve. More than just new housing, this redevelopment represents an investment in the future of the Fort Benning community while honoring the legacy of those who came before.
